How can I install CAN2IP bridge in the car?
- Installation of the device is extremely simple! It is only necessary to plug the CAN2IP bridge into the OBD port in the car and everything is ready to use
In which car models can I include the CAN2IP bridge?
- The CAN2IP bridge is currently intended for use in all Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.2 diesel cars (tested on 2016-2023 models with 3.5", 7" and full digital Instrument Panel).
What is SGW?
- SGW (Security GateWay) is a very important security component that prevents unauthorized vehicle programming!
Does my car have SGW?
- All cars manufactured after 02/2018 should have SGW installed
Does the device work if SGW is installed in the car?
- No. Although the CAN2IP bridge does absolutely no modifications to the CAN devices and CAN communication in your vehicle but only listens to specific CAN addresses and uses standard OBD PIDs to display information, the built-in SGW does not allow normal CAN communication, so it needs to be bridged, otherwise the CAN2IP bridge cannot work!
- Installation of the SGW bypass module is done at your own risk! In case of any problems, we are not responsible for any direct or indirect consequences in terms of disputing the warranty on the vehicle and other potential problems!
Can I leave the device plugged in permanently?
- Yes. CAN2IP bridge devices are designed to be permanently plugged into the OBD port
Will the device drain my battery?
- No. The CAN2IP bridge as a standalone device will not drain the battery but there are several built-in devices in the car that are always connected to the battery so of course the battery will drain if the car is not used for a while ...
- The CAN2IP bridge in SLEEP MODE “consumes" less than 15mA of current (about 10-12mA). That is a very, very small amount of current, but it is not zero! As we mentioned earlier, you have several other devices that are always connected to the battery so sooner or later this will lead to battery drain
- Alfa Romeo Giulia/Stelvio are well known to be VERY AGGRESSIVE towards the battery and with or without the CAN2IP bridge device, if it is not charged while driving or with an external charger, the battery will eventually drain!
- There should be no problem leaving your car idle for a few weeks, but the battery condition depends on several other conditions (outside temperature, battery charge level, battery age and status ...)
Does the device turn on and off automatically?
- Yes. The CAN2IP bridge is designed so that it automatically turns on and off (goes to SLEEP MODE) according to the IGNITION status
- The CAN2IP bridge will go into sleep mode a few seconds after other devices in the car go into sleep mode
- In practice, this means that when you turn off the engine, several other devices remain on for a few seconds (multimedia, USB sockets, Instrument Panel ...), but after you leave the car, close and lock all the doors, all systems will go into sleep mode after a few seconds. At that moment, the CAN2IP bridge will also go to sleep ...
Does the device work on small 3.5'' InstrumentPanel screens?
- Yes. CAN2IP bridge is compatible with 7" and 3.5" InstrumentPanel screens
Does the device work on fully digital InstrumentPanels?
- Yes. CAN2IP bridge is also compatible with fully digital InstrumentPanel screens
Why am I occasionally shown information about the current radio station, navigation or phone call?
- For optimal functioning of the CAN2IP bridge device, it is advisable to turn off the Phone/Audio/Nav info displays in the "Cluster Settings" settings or configure the display according to your needs.
- Since the display space on the InstrumentPanel is shared among all other devices, any new information will be "overwritten" over the existing one.
Can I upgrade the firmware to the latest version?
- Yes. CAN2IP bridge is designed so that you can always perform a firmware upgrade as described in the instructions
WiFi FW UPGRADE
FW upgrade via mobile HotSpot
You can upgrade the device to a newer FW version by:
1. using the CC SET UP/DOWN buttons, select the SW version menu (Display 18)
2. long press the RES button to start the WiFi update
- for the update, you must configure a WiFi HotSpot 2.4GHz on your mobile phone with the SSID/PASS settings: default123/default123 and you must have stable internet access
- the upgrade progress is displayed on the InstrumentPanel and upon completion you will receive a message about the successful/unsuccessful status
- the upgrade takes a few seconds and uses less than 2MB of data
- if you have an iPHONE, this will be a problem because the iPHONE HotSpot SSID (WiFI network name) is the same as the iPHONE device name ... something like "My iPhone" etc. On Android platforms, it's very easy ...

Can I buy EXT 2.8" TFT + BRACKET separately?
- As a rule, no. EXT 2.8" TFT + BRACKET is sold as bundle with CAN2IP bridge PRO device with price for bundle. You can always contact us and we will try to find a solution ...
Can I adjust the backlight intensity on the additional screen (EXT 2.8" TFT + BRACKET)?
- No. In this version it is not possible to adjust the backlight intensity
Can I upgrade the LITE version of the device to PRO?

Can I downgrade PRO version to LITE?
- No
Can I change the order of information display?
- No. On the current versions of the CAN2IP bridge LITE and CAN2IP bridge PRO devices, you cannot change the order of information display
Can I choose the information to display?
- No. On the current versions of CAN2IP bridge LITE and CAN2IP bridge PRO devices, you cannot select the information to display
Does the device affect CC/ACC?
- No. The CAN2IP bridge device has absolutely NO impact on the normal operation of the car and other systems, does NOT interfere with CAN bus communication, does NOT modify any parameters and has NO side effects
How can I lock the desired display when using CC/ACC?
- Before turning on CC/ACC, you can LOCK the current display by long pressing any button on CC/ACC except SET UP/DOWN button and the screen remains in locked position and displays all information that is locked. CC/ACC always works if you activate it.
Can I disable the Q4 drive, stability control system, traction control system and/or other systems?
- We are not sure if we will "play" with the Q4 drive, ABS/ASR/ESP and other systems ... that is extremely dangerous ...
Can I connect my mobile phone to CAN2IP bridge?
- This devices are not intended to be connected to any external apps but to work as stand alone device which uses car's InstrumentCluster display … that's the point of the whole story - system that works without additional devices and apps. Maybe in some other/newer versions but currently no.
- CAN2IP bridge acts as a BlueTooth HOST device that you can connect to.
- Our external TFT display is BlueTooth CLIENT device which is programmed to auto connect to CAN2IP bridge HOST. So, you can connect to CAN2IP bridge with your phone and when you do that, CAN2IP bridge will start to send serial stream with formatted values which you can interpret. You can use any BlueTooth terminal software or you can make your own :)
